Some people think that a healthy weight, feeling good, looking good, and such is something that happens when you eat right and workout. To an extent that’s true, but there is a bit more than that involved. Chances are if you are reading, you are already pretty aware that your outsides are directly influenced by your insides.

So does this mean that you have to strive to be 100% all-natural, organic, no GMO, working out 5 days a week for 60+ minutes, zenned out, crystal clean, and uber disciplined in all that you do?

Unless you legitimately enjoy all of that… or you really enjoy being miserable… not so much.

Living a natural, healthy lifestyle doesn’t mean you have to live in a constant state of deprivation, it doesn’t mean that you need to be miserable, and it doesn’t mean that you need to be perfect. What it does mean is that you honor and respect yourself. That you strive to make small improvements in all areas of your life and are committed to creating a more solid foundation of your life.

Here are some super simple actions you can take to create a foundation built for success…

Make Your Bed Every Day

Sounds silly right? This simple action can be a huge gamechanger. It takes all of a minute (if that), but it begins your day with discipline and intentional action. It clears one of your most sacred spaces, your bedroom. Have you ever noticed what a difference the energy in your room is like when your bed is made versus when it’s not? This teeny tiny habit helps to set the stage for a proactive, clear energy, uncluttered, disciplined day.

Ditch The Bad Habits that Aren’t Important to You Pronto!

So you may have a wild addiction to Starbucks venti Caramel Macchiatos with a double shot of espresso, and the though of simply cutting it out cold turkey gives you anxiety. Then don’t cut it out right now. Perhaps work on shifting to a healthier path, but don’t break your soul depriving yourself of something that truly makes you happy. BUT, what about your cleaning products? Are you really emotionally attached to what you spray your toilet bowl down with? Probably not. Toss out toxic cleaners and start using all natural ones. Or maybe you aren’t too invested in what sides you serve with dinner. Pick healthier options.

Be the detective in your life. Where are there habits, products, even relationships that you wouldn’t miss if you swapped them out for healthier ones? Start there. Completely painless, yet makes a big difference.

Get Your Mind Right

My biggest challenge is my mindset. When I have the right mindset, everything else literally flows pretty naturally. Sometimes taking time for meditation, journaling, planning my day, and creating mental space can be the last thing I want to do, but the thing is… this is where I find the foundation of my life lays. Your mindset shapes your entire reality. Pretty powerful, right?

Choose Love

Love is pretty damn powerful. When faced with the option of how you address life, others, and even yourself, choose love. Love is accepting, understanding, kind, compassionate, and everything good. I have a little mantra that someone taught me that I repeat to myself whenever I find myself not wanting to choose love. (Most often when someone cuts me off in traffic) It is Bless them, change me. Those four words can help to recenter my true self and remember that I can’t change others but what I can change is my reaction and level of acceptance.

Be Gentle on Yourself

In today’s society so many of use put unrealistic expectations on ourselves and have an internal dialogue that speaks to us in a way that we wouldn’t dare speak to another living soul. The crazy thing is, this type of behavior drives you the opposite direction of where you want to go. Stopping is much easier said than done, because it’s a habit. A very toxic one at that. Diamonds form under pressure, flowers blossom with space. You are a living being… give yourself room.

Check in Often with Your Desires

Meh, goals, right? Yep! The more clear you are on where you are and what you want your life to look like, the more likely you are to get there. Be honest with yourself. Even if something was true for you a month ago, it may not be today. This is your life, you deserve to absolutely love it. Like, excited when you wake up because you get to live your life, type of love it.

De-Clutter and Organize

I’ll be the first to admit, I am a free spirit and as much as I hate routine and structure… it’s where most humans thrive, including myself. The craziest thing is that when we have structure in our lives, it creates more freedom. Creating space, systems, routine, and being organized reduces stress and makes creating healthy changes a million times easier. Someone once told me that how we keep our external environment mirrors our internal one. I’ve found this to be pretty damn true.

If you find that you struggle “adulting” and constantly feel buried in overwhelm, check out the free I Love Me Challenge, it is 5 days and helps clear away the junk and create habits that are simple and realistic that will change your life.
